This morning we went to Envirofest which was being held in the centre of Kerikeri. It’s advertised as “a fantastic one day event celebrating ideas, products and services that enable Northlanders to live smarter and cheaper”.
There were all sorts of stalls, from wind turbines to how to kill possums! There were lots of stalls for renewable energy – solar power mostly.
There was a demonstration throughout the day on how to build an outdoor pizza oven and there were seminars on things like “What is lurking around your house after dark? Pest control”, “Chooks;Their Care and Your own Free Range Eggs.” and “Organic fertilizers, new projects for using organic waste”.

We didn’t attend the seminars but we did look at the “Best Artwork made entirely from recycled materials” competition entries which were very good! There was also a competition for “Best Ever Preserve: Pickle, Chutney, Sauce, Jam”. We didn’t stay long J
